Mission

We aim to foster a learning community rooted in love, support, trust, and respect while promoting creativity, empathy, and peace among children and their surrounding communities. We empower children through education that cultivates knowledge, gratitude, and responsibility, clearing the path for a brighter, more sustainable future.

Vision Statement

To foster a harmonious society in which education drives innovation, upholds ethics and values, promotes unity and happiness, and nurtures a community based on transparency, empathy, and mutual respect for one another and the environment.

Origin and
History

Mrs Aldis Jaspers and Mr. Raja Kandaiah established the Arunachala Village School in February 1999, registering it as a charitable trust. The school’s 42 kindergarten children were sheltered beneath a coconut-thatched roof. His hard work significantly contributed to the school’s success from the beginning.

The school’s expansion adopted an alternative trajectory in 2001. Mr. Madhan Mohan succeeded Mr. Raja Kandaiah as the organization’s leader. Madhan Mohan’s vision is to establish a school brimming with pleasure, and this joy should be a source of wisdom for the children. He made a commitment to himself to provide the students with the finest education possible, as he had envisioned during his childhood.

Madhan Mohan has presented an excellent vision for the school, and the teaching methodologies have been newly developed for rural children from uneducated or less educated family backgrounds. He transformed the entire school campus, making it a self-learning tool today, which was achieved after great efforts!

He also introduced innovative teaching methods to tackle issues in the teaching and learning process. He also proposed that “teachers should serve as parents at school while parents take on the role of teachers at home. ” This shared responsibility fostered strong collaboration and mutual understanding between parents and the school. His perspective on academic quality and nurturing young minds significantly changed primary education.

In 2024, the Governor of Tamilnadu awarded him for his outstanding social service in education and environmental Care. (To learn more about Madhan Mohan, click here.)

In 2022, Ms. Ramya happily stepped into the role of Managing Trustee of the Trust, with the wonderful support of Trustees Mr. Rakesh and Mr. Selvam. Mr. Madhan Mohan continues to inspire as the school’s patron and academic director. It’s heartwarming to note that Ms. Ramya is a former student of Arunachala Village School. Madhan Mohan cherishes the dream that one day, the students of AVS will take over the school. Now, as part of that vision, he has joyfully welcomed Ramya on board to help bring this dream to life!
