Admission Criteria

Admission at Arunachala Village School is based on the following categories,

  1. Orphaned or abandoned families
  2. Single mother’s children
  3. Economically disadvantaged backgrounds

And top priority is always given to female children!

Kindergarten admission takes place in April and May. Every year, AVS receives many applications from the surrounding villages, and the staff team visits all of the families who have applied to verify their background and assess their family situation.

Forty-two children are selected each year, with 21 children in each section at the starting class of Lower Kindergarten. (Children start at the age of four.)

Once students are selected, we hold a detailed meeting with their parents to outline the seven-year journey their children will undertake at AVS. During this session, we clearly explain the terms and conditions and the shared responsibilities between the school and the parents.

At AVS, we emphasize a unique partnership: parents are encouraged to act as teachers at home, while our teachers take on the role of parents at school. This collaborative approach fosters a supportive and nurturing environment, making teaching-learning more effective and successful. Together, we ensure every child receives the guidance and care they need to thrive.

Education for all children is provided free of cost. The school provides all materials required for studies, including uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, and field trips. Parents are not required to pay a penny for their child’s future.
