In primary school, we have five grades, from One to Fifth. Each grade has two cheerful classrooms, with about twenty enthusiastic students in each class, creating a vibrant learning environment.
Students collectively decide which class to take for each period, and they never misuse the freedom given to them. This habit cultivates the practice of thinking about their needs and requirements and promotes decision-making skills. More importantly, freedom can only bring great wisdom.
Teachers do more homework than their students to enhance engagement in learning activities through creative methodologies. Furthermore, this responsibility is occasionally extended to parents, considering that education is a collaborative endeavour at AVS.
Slow learners receive special care and attention to help them thrive! AVS has created an excellent “Micro Classes” solution specifically for these students. In these classes, a teacher works closely with a small group, ensuring that each student gets the support they need to understand the lessons better. This approach helps them catch up with their peers and fosters a positive learning environment where they feel confident and engaged in their education.
Students are encouraged to use the library at any time. The library is open 24/7, and each student is rewarded with a book once they finish reading 10 books. This practice helps them build a home library.
Arunachala Village School (AVS) is committed to providing its students real-world exposure by organizing educational visits to various institutions and workplaces, such as police stations, courts, banks, business houses, and science-related facilities. These excursions offer students a firsthand understanding of how different sectors function, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
By immersing students in diverse environments, AVS broadens their horizons and inspires them to dream big and explore potential career paths. Such experiences ignite curiosity, foster motivation, and empower students to envision a future filled with possibilities, preparing them to navigate and contribute meaningfully to the world beyond the classroom.
A Holistic Education
At AVS, arts and crafts are not seen as separate from academic learning but as an essential part of a holistic education. The school believes that creativity is a fundamental aspect of human development and that nurturing it is key to raising well-rounded individuals. By integrating arts and crafts into the curriculum, AVS ensures that its students are academically proficient and emotionally balanced, culturally aware, and creatively empowered.
The arts and crafts program at Arunachala Village School is a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing creativity and holistic development. Through diverse activities—from yoga and meditation to classical music and traditional crafts—AVS empowers its students to explore their creativity, connect with their cultural heritage, and develop essential life skills. This unique approach to education ensures that children at AVS grow into confident, compassionate, and innovative individuals, ready to positively impact the world.
